Home again, home again, jiggety jig...

Yep, we're back at home in Arkansas. Everything was normal up until our last post on Friday and then everything changed (in a good way).

This was our plan:
Fly from Tampa to Fort Smith, Ark.
Get our car and drive home.
Get up next morning and drive to Kansas City for a wedding.

Potential problems with this plan: how were we going to watch both quarter-final games on Saturday (Portugal-England and Brazil-France)? Driving 5 hours and being at a wedding by 7pm with games at 10 and 1 was complicated.

This is what really happened:
Our flight from Tampa was way overbooked so we volunteered to bump off, on the condition that we could fly straight into Kansas City (thus avoiding the drive up on Saturday morning).

The bump-off rewards were: $300 per person plus a night in a hotel if they couldn't get us out on Friday.

We got bumped so we got the $300 per person and were booked on the next flight to Kansas City - no need to spend the night in Tampa.

Then, Mark said "So, we'll have a hotel in Kansas City?" while I'm thinking "ok, no, because they're getting us out tonight - no way are they going to do this" when the lady says "sure, I can get you a voucher for a hotel in Kansas City" and now I'm thinking "HOW IN THE WORLD DID HE JUST PULL THAT OFF?". I'm still in shock... =o)

Wow...so yeah...$600 + one free night in a hotel + no complications to seeing both games = one great plan.

We then rented a car in Kansas City and drove it down to Fort Smith to pick up our car and came home Sunday evening.

Yes, it was an interesting weekend and a great vacation, but it is good to be back at home.

Wow, sounds like quite the adventure you two had! I've never heard of a "bumping" that worked out so well! Gee, it must be tough to be back to the real world after all that whirlwind of fun.
Did you enjoy the sights and sounds of the 4th? We were such party poopers...didn't even get out to watch any fireworks displays, though we heard a ton from our neighbor across the street. Dad was sure he was going to set our roof on fire, but we made in through the night no worse for wear...
