Oct. 31 at our house...

We were home last night. On purpose. We bought candy at Sam's and were ready for the trick or treating frenzy. We live in a big neighborhood, so we knew we would get a lot of "visitors." Still, half-way through the night, Mark says "remind me to not be home next year" as he's walking to the door. =o)

This is what the situation was like at our place:

5:00pm - Home from work. Candy ready. Lights on outside.

Mark is strategically on the phone, looks out the window on our front door and sees this masked face looking at him. =o) Calls me over to tell me our first trick or treater is there.
Joy: OK...but we're taking turns...every other one.

Doorbell rings
Joy: I think it's your turn.
Mark: I have to go change. I'll get the next one.
Joy: Every other one, that was the deal.

Doorbell rings
Mark: I got the last one, you go.
Joy: I'm cooking. I don't want to grab the candy with my garlicky hands (I made Caldo Verde - a portuguese soup on the night of an American holiday. Hmmm).

Doorbell rings
Joy shoves her hands in the lettuce to toss it and looks at Mark with an apologetic face.
Mark: Nice...good timing.

On and on this goes...the excuses getting more and more desperate...until...

7:00pm - Out of candy. Lights out in the front. Yesssssss.

We saw several cute costumes and several that I had no clue what they were going for. Favorites of the night: a baby spiderman and a little fairy.

Sorry I don't have any pictures for this post. We don't have any cute kids in our family to dress up, so just check out Emma Claire's blog. You can get your fix of cute halloween costumes there.
