Apples and Cakes

APPLES
Well, I made it through the reception on Friday. It's always amazing to me the amount of time that goes into an event. Hours and hours of prep and then hours of clean up for 60 minutes of partying. Anyway, it turned out really well and at least now I'm all practiced up for Saturday when I get to do it all over again :o) I'll put pictures on Plan, Organize, Decorate but not until tonight 'cause the pictures are still on the camera.

CAKES
Remember when we went to Tulsa to the Sugar Art Show and we talked about the Food Network being there? It's ok if you don't remember (click here and here if you want to know what I'm taking about).
Well, this weekend I was taking a nap (recuperating from all my fun with apples) when Mark said "Joy, they're showing the sugar show!" Sure enough, it's Wedding Week on Food Network so they're showing the National Wedding Cake Competition that took place in Tulsa (I saw that it was on twice this weekend, so you may be able to catch it again sometime).
When they came to the awards ceremony, our eyes were peeled trying to find ourselves in the crowd. It's really weird to be watching Food Network and to be looking for yourself (What was I even wearing? It was in October last year). We actually put a tape in to record it just in case we needed to do it in slow motion.
And then....there's Mark!! He didn't catch it and thought I was lying. And then...there he is again!! He did catch just a quick glimpse that time.
After the show was over, we watched the tape. Sure enough, there was Mark in the crowd (it's actually the same shot twice, but still...twice).
Oh and me? Thank you for wondering...my forehead and my sunglasses on the top of my head made it on TV but not my face. That's what I get for being 8 inches shorter than my husband - 8 inches is the difference between a full headshot and 2 nanoseconds of fame and oh, there's the top of your head, Joy.
It's OK, I'm not bitter, but next time, I'm sitting next to somebody who made a cake ('cause you know for sure they'll make it on) and I'm taking a booster seat.
