Yesterday's travels went really well. Our flights went without a hitch and the drive from Hartford, CT to Boston, MA was easy and uneventful. After checking into our hotel downtown, we ate dinner and walked around for a bit.
I navigate...
Mark drives.
Faneuil Hall (the "Cradle of Liberty"), by night.
Today was a very full day. We did a ton of stuff, ate a ton of great food, and now are exhausted. We walked the Freedom Trail (hitting all 16 spots on the trail), walked out to Cambridge where we ate great Portuguese food, walked through Harvard Square, and finally got on the subway and made our way back to our hotel.
The beginning of the Freedom Trail.
The Old State House
(it was from that balcony where the Declaration of Independence was first read)
Part of the Holocaust memorial. Those etchings in the glass are numbers, numbers representing all the victims. Each tall glass tower represented a different concentration camp.
One if by land, two if by sea. The Old North Church where the lanterns were hung.
Bunker Hill Monument. 294 steps to the top to see out that tiny little window.
Post 294 steps of spiraling concrete and still smiling. Unbelievable.
Proof that we actually did make it to the top...
Check out the name of the street. Think I could get a discount on real estate?
View from the Longfellow Bridge, on the walk to Cambridge, MA.
Check our online photo album for more pictures.
Tomorrow late morning we head down to Rhode Island to see the fam. We can't wait.
