Lid Lexicon

Mark and I went to Sonic for Happy Hour. Mark needed to mail something so I suggested we wait until it was Happy Hour and swing by there on the way back to work. I got a Lemon Berry Slush and Mark got a Limeade. I know you were wondering.

As we were getting out of the car, Mark punched one of the buttons on my lid in, so that we could tell our drinks apart. Never mind that we were going to our own offices and never mind that mine was red and his was pale green. He did it because he was being silly. Fine, I can take a joke. However, he didn’t look at which one he pushed in, of course. And now, the whole thing is making me crazy. Yes, I really should have titled this post OCD, because I am or suffer from, whatever. Go ahead, laugh. But you already knew it.

It’s not only bothering me that he punched what I was NOT drinking (I think), but I don’t even KNOW what he punched. Here are the buttons on my Sonic lid and my guesses at what they mean:

C – Coke
DIET – Diet Coke, or I guess Diet Dr. Pepper (ok, that could get confusing)
DP – Dr. Pepper
RB – Root Beer
OTHER – nice…generic…would have been a good choice for Mark to press, but no…
CR – Cream Slush? Have no idea what else it could be.
A – ??
PA - ?? Powerade?

Mark punched the PA button. Don’t think my Lemon Berry Slush falls in that category and yes, it does kind of bother me that my lid doesn’t match my drink. I’m about to press all the buttons down just for some peace of mind.

OK, so I’m exaggerating a bit, but it is kind of bothering me that I don’t know what A and PA mean. Anybody know what they stand for? PLEASE comment if you know.

And don’t worry, I have a good friend who is a therapist :o)

Oh my friend...you make me laugh so hard! Only you would be so anal about your drink lid. Oh, what memories it brings back...
bonus, I'm now thinking about a cherry limeade and wishing I could get one!

The "A" seems a little ambiguous, but the most obvious meaning is "Alcoholic", although "Água" is more likely at Sonic (Spanish/Portuguese word notwithstanding). Other possibilities are "Adult" and "Anonymous".

The "PA" is more straightforward. I checked on the website I use for decoding acronyms. It means, "Parental Advisory."
