Two Year Old Birthday Party
This was a blast. It's always fun to see little kids running around and having fun with each other. The Very Hungry Caterpillar theme was a hit and I think the room, decorations, and cake, were a hit.
And I guess now would be a good time to unveil my project, my birthday gift for Emma Claire. I made a Caterpillar Floor Cushion. This guy is huge. He's almost 6 ft long and perfect for hugging or snuggling with a good book. It was surprisingly easy to make and I think he turned out pretty similar to the caterpillar in the books.
The Caterpillar in his new home, the playroom.
The Birthday Girl, riding her caterpillar.
Here are some pictures of the rest of the party.
The Caterpillar cake was made out of cupcakes. The kids loved eating the cupcakes and drinking out of their juice boxes.
Caroline, reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar to all the kids.

Creative Black Tie Party
Why is it that girls have such drama sometimes when it comes to getting all dressed up? I'm not very wild in my wardrobe selections and I don't really like to stand out, so this whole creative thing was getting interesting.
I decided to wear my strapless, platinum dress with a silver shawl. I put my hair up and put some "bling" in it with these hair jewels I wore on my wedding day. For the "craziness" (I couldn't do much), I made a choker out of this furry yarn (the same that I used for the back of the caterpillar).
Mark wore his suit with a black shirt. He looked really nice. He was planning on wearing jeans and I resisted a bit. Once we got there, though, one of the main organizers was wearing jeans with a suit coat (oops!).
It was a fun night. They had "Joan Rivers" on the red carpet interviewing people about their outfits. We got there before a lot of people, so we were going to be the first to be interviewed but they were still trying to get going so we slipped by. Only when we got inside did we realize that they were showing it inside on the screen so everybody had seen us try to "sneakily" slip by. They had presenters for the awards, sealed envelopes with the winner's name, and "Artie" statues. It looked a lot like what you would see at the Oscars and I think they did a great job.
Here we are, after the party - we didn't have time to take pictures before:
